Meet Phinehas Comfort Dog
“God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?” Numbers 23:19
Phinehas joined Trinity Lutheran in October 2022 and was officially installed in January 2023. He has completed more than 2,000 hours of intensive training, passed the AKC Good Citizenship Test, and is certified by Lutheran Church Charities. Phinehas serves alongside a dedicated team of handlers, caregivers, and ministry partners, all of whom receive ongoing support, coaching, and training to serve with excellence.
Phinehas and his team serve daily in their communities and are deployed during disasters and crises, providing comfort to affected individuals, first responders, and volunteers. We only go where we are invited and never charge for our visits. Phinehas regularly visits hospitals, nursing homes, schools, rehabilitation centers, grief centers, behavioral health facilities, and other locations where emotional support is needed.
Phinehas is part of the LCC K‑9 Ministry and has also earned vests for both the LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry and the LCC K‑9 Police Ministry. Because Jim is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and an active police officer, he joins Phinehas on military and police ministry visits whenever he is available. All of Phinehas’ handlers are fully trained and may participate in any visit, ensuring that the ministry can respond wherever comfort, compassion, and hope are needed.
Phinehas is a friend who brings a calming influence, encouraging others to open up their hearts and receive help for what is affecting them. Phinehas is available to visit your church, school, or group.
